The snow was already beginning to fall again by the time our buses arrived to the community centre, a little squeaky but still rolling. We took a mad dash to the village of East Aurora, a 15 minute drive in regular conditions. God knows how long we took, although we did take some risky speeds on a few hills that left us wobbly.

East Aurora was a slightly bigger town with a main strip of small independent stores and a gorgeous cinema. Most importantly, it had a hotel. With showers. And beds. And now we had all our luggage from the bus. HEAVEN.

At first there was a little scare about eight people having to share rooms with only two queen beds, but that was soon sorted out and we were allowed to stay four to a room. My boyfriend and I made friends with two independent travellers also from Toronto. One was a 21 year old accounting student who will probably never take the bus again, and the other was a 25 year old social worker who was full of stories. We were lucky to have them.
